Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Today we
celebrate Mary as the humble, sinless woman chosen to be the Mother of Our Lord,
who, having lived a full earthly life, was taken up body and soul into heaven,
where she shared in the glory of her Son’s resurrection. She is also our mother, as she is the mother
of the body of Christ, the Church. As
such, she is a model of faithfulness and holiness for all of us.
