The Baptism of the Lord

As we listen to the words of the Gospel today, we her that the people were looking to John the Baptist to be the long-awaited Messiah.  That expectation, misdirected as it was, did keep them looking for the Messiah.  John was able to direct them from him-self to the person of Jesus, the “beloved Son” of God.  Our own baptism with “The Holy Spirit” initiates us on a journey of discovery not only of who Jesus is, but also who we are in Him.  We are so blessed to know the true Messiah in our lives.     – Deacon Jim

The Epiphany of The Lord

Incandescent light bulbs are being replaced by more energy efficient and longer lasting CFL, LED and Halogen light bulbs.  These are more expensive up front, but in the long run bring many cost-effective benefits.  God’s “light” is the most energy efficient, long lasting, benefit-giving light there is.  It’s cost may seem expensive on the front side as well.  The price is our faith and dedication of our very selves.  In the end, there is no comparison.  How committed are we to following the “Light of Christ?”

The love of God knows no boundaries, it is intimate and lifesaving. Christmas is a feast of love and relationship.  The birth of Christ came about because of the marvelous love of God.  Today we celebrate His coming in history two thousand years ago.  We also celebrate His coming into our hearts.  As we hear the familiar stories again and sing the carols we know so well, let us make this a day when we pledge to bring that same love that Christ gave us into the hearts of everyone we meet.
