15^th Sunday in Ordinary Time

 We can learn a great deal about ourselves if we take time to reflect on the story in today’s Gospel.  Jesus tells us what He expects of us in our relationship and caring of others.  It is not easy at times to help a person, knowing that they may have brought the situation they are in on themselves.  Yet, we meet others where they are in life and without judgment or pointing fault, we must show our love and concern for them as Jesus did.  Remember, God's love is unconditional. We must be ready to do good to others for their sake, just as God is good to us. Are we ready to lay down our life for your neighbor?     - Deacon Jim

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The readings at Mass today remind us of the mission we are all on. By our Baptism as Christians, we are called to be sent out to share God’s Word to all we come in contact with.  The message in the Gospel tells us that Jesus sent the disciples out to spread His message, giving them strict instructions.  As we share in this Eucharistic Sacrifice today at Mass we need to pray for an understanding of just what those instructions are for each of us on our mission to spread the Good News in our world today.                                                  –Deacon Jim

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Gospel today sets the tone for the weeks and months to come.  We place our faith in God and are told that we must take up our cross and follow Him.  The crosses we face in our life can be very difficult.  They can be hard to accept and at times we can even find ourselves facing anger and frustration with God.  We must fight off that kind of reaction and by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, accept willingly the crosses of our life so that we may know the fullness of life in the world to come.    God Bless us all.

The story of Jesus' feet anointed with tears and perfume by a sinful woman is a love story, pure and simple. Not some cheap romance or soap opera love. A love much deeper and heart-felt than that, and one not infused with physical desire. But it is very much a love story.  Instead of judging this woman, as Simon did, Jesus turns the judgment to Simon.

"Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet."  True love is wrapped in mercy and forgiveness. “The greatest commandment of all is to Love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.”
