First Sunday of Advent

First Sunday of Advent
This weekend we begin a new year in
the Church. We say goodbye to the past
year we look with anticipation and excitement at the new year in our faith, the
Year of Mercy!
As we start this new year with the
beginning of Advent, let us all be attentive to the signs of God’s presence in
our lives. We ask ourselves, how do we
live so that we are prepared and ready to embrace the coming of the Lord? Listen to the words of Paul, who tells us to
conduct ourselves in a way pleasing to God.
The best way to do that is to get ready for the coming of the Lord by
acting as if he were already here. (The truth is, He is!) - Deacon Jim

Our Lord jesus Christ, King of the Universe

“Our
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe”
Thirty-fourth
or Last Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today
we celebrate the feast of "Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the
Universe." This is a very
impressive title, and yet the Gospel reading today lacks the grandeur we might
expect from the title. The celebration takes place in the midst of the world’s
turmoil of that time. Our world today
continue to be in turmoil, as we are all aware with the recent events of terrorism. Now more than ever, we need to acknowledge Jesus
Christ as the Lord and King of our hearts and lives. The truth about God reveals His love for the
world and so should move us to discover God’s love by our loving others. – Deacon Jim
