All Saints Day
Weekend
The Gospel of Matthew
5: 1-12a is one of the most beautiful in the Bible. I love this scripture not only for what it is
saying but for the fact that it is from Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount.” Today we remember all the saints of the Lord, we
recall that we who live on the earth today are but one part of the church that
extends back through the centuries and forward to the end of time. Just as many of our churches have images of
saints surrounding them, we are surrounded by the communion of saints, whose
lives are a shining example of encouragement for us.
