Third Sunday of Advent, "Gaudete Sunday"

The Third Sunday of Advent is traditionally known as Gaudete Sunday, so-called from the first word of the antiphon at the Introit.  "Gaudete (Rejoice), taken from the Latin translation.
The Rose Vestments are  a break in our Advent Season so we can focus on
the joy and anticipation of the coming of Christ in only a couple of weeks.

Third Sunday of Advent

December 12 & 13

The Third Sunday of Advent is traditionally known as Gaudete Sunday, so-called from the first word of the antiphon at the Introit.  "Gaudete" (Rejoice), taken from the Latin translation.

As we listen to ALL of the readings today, from the Collect, First Reading, Responsorial Psalm and Second Reading, we hear about a form of joy, rejoicing and expectation.  In the Gospel tells us of the expectation and anticipation of the people as they talk to John the Baptist.  How should we react? What emotions are stirred up in us as we hear and react to the Word of God?           - Deacon Jim
